For getting admissions to M.E/M-Tech programme, candidates required to achieve valid Gate score.  The Gate score card will be issued only for the candidates who achieved minimum score that is equal to the Cut-off’s. For each subject Cut-off’s would be different. GATE Score will be Valid for three years from the announcement of the result.

GATE SCORE

The GATE exam paper will be set for a total of 100 marks. The actual marks scored by the candidates out of 100 will be the GATE marks. GATE Scores will be derived out of 1000 after normalization.

How to Calculate GATE Score

GATE Score will be calculated after normalization. GATE Normalization Process is the methodology prescribed by the GATE authorities to convert the raw marks of the candidates into scores after computing according to the specifications.

Find below the formula for calculating the Normalization mark   of the jth candidate in the ith session is;

: Actual marks obtained by the jth candidate in ith session

: Average marks of the top 0.1% of the candidates considering all sessions

: Sum of mean and standard deviation marks of the candidates in the paper considering all sessions

: Average marks of the top 0.1% of the candidates in the ith session

: Sum of the mean marks and standard deviation of the ith session

The score of the candidate is calculated using a certain formula which is defined below;

GATE SCORE =

Where,

M     : marks obtained by the candidate (actual marks for single session papers and normalized marks for multi-session papers)

: qualifying marks for general category candidate in the paper

: mean of marks of top 0.1% or top 10 (whichever is larger) of the candidates who appeared in the paper (in case of multi-session papers including all sessions)

: 350, is the score assigned to

: 900, is the score assigned to
